The 19th Edition of EFIS on Tour was successfully hosted by the Romanian Society of Immunology (SIR) at the "Victor Babes" National Institute of Pathology on November 14, 2025 in Bucharest, Romania. The event brought together more than 60 researchers offering a platform for scientific exchange and collaboration. Attendees engaged in insightful presentations by leading immunologists, covering a broad range of topics including NMicroRNAs and cell profiling, NK cells, macraphages in cancer, immune regulation as well as infection and vaccines. The symposium also highlighted strengthening regional scientific networks and further cooperation via the networking opportunity during the coffee break.
Furthermore, on November 15, EFIS held its fourth Board Meeting of 2025 in Bucharest where they also welcomed representatives of the Romanian Immunology Society (SIR).
This joint occasion marked a significant milestone for both regional and European immunology, reinforcing scientific ties across the Balkan region as well as a great opportunity for young Romanian immunologists to connect with the yEFIS Spokesperson to learn more about their network.

DGfI Young Immunologists - Seminar Series - Dec 9, 2025 | 17:00 (CET) | Zoom with Prof. Dr. Jean Laurent Casanova
Casanova’s laboratory aims to understand why some children and adults develop a life- threatening or lethal illness in the course of primary infection, while most people exposed to the same microbe remain unharmed. Work in the lab has revealed that so- called inborn errors of immunity, the genetic variants that affect a person’s ability to fight off infectious agents, can confer selective vulnerability to a specific severe infectious disease.
